For every taste and style

The facing, a question of style

The choice of windows

Whether old, modern, English-style or typically Quebecois, a house has an architectural personality that relates to its region and the area in which it was built. The choice of windows must match the architecture otherwise you will be creating an incoherent exterior and the house will lose its authenticity and value.

Old homes often have small mullioned windows, while English-style homes are adorned with double hung windows and French-style architectures are garnished with casement windows. The colour of the frames should match the exterior covering. Colours are generally chosen based on the environment.

Dressing

Window dressing is not only a matter of how it looks, anything is permitted, but certain things must be taken into consideration when making your choice!

Direction

A window facing south could be a considerable source of heat in winter and undoubtedly a little uncomfortable in the summer. To adjust the entry of the sun, sheer curtains, venetian blinds or shutters can be installed to soften the luminosity without plunging the room into darkness. Choosing energy glass windows will allow you to keep full luminosity while improving the energy efficiency of your home.

Size

Although very efficient, a large window will give you a sensation of coolness in the evenings. To counteract this effect, curtains made of thick material provide considerable protection.

Intimacy

On a window facing the street or a neighbor, pleated blinds or opaque curtains can provide a concealing shadow effect.

The floor

When the living area is on the ground floor, we often sacrifice the light from a window to protect our intimacy. A type of blinds exists that can be raised instead of lowered. These ascending blinds leave the entire top of the window clear.

For the rest, it is a matter of taste and colors!
